Course Description:

Principles of management as related to fire service. Includes management functions, the management cycle behavioral sciences, leadership, communications, public relations, records and reports. No prerequisite. Offered on: A / 3 cr. hrs.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe and outline the responsibilities / leadership requirements of a fire captain in a municipal fire service.
  2. Implement a incident training plan.
  3. Overview the communications and management responsibilities in a municipal fire department.
  4. In detail identify and describe the various areas in incident command related to overseeing a fire department related to safety, training, community outreach / communication, reports and scheduling.
