Hydraulics

Principles of hydraulics, suction and drafting water, velocity and discharge, friction loss calculations, engine and nozzle pressures, fire hydrants and mains, fire streams, sprinkler system calculations and pumps. No prerequisite. Offered on: A / 3 cr. hrs.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe and demonstrate proficiency in the various water distribution systems utilized in firefighting.
  2. Describe and demonstrate proficiency in suction and drafting of water: principles of hydraulics associated to water.
  3. Describe and demonstrate proficiency in velocity and discharge calculations associated to water streams, sprinkler systems and pumps
