Prescription Drugs
Prescription Drug costs continue to rise at an extremely high rate. In effort to keep member costs as low as possible, the UFA worked with Mellon Human Resources and Investor Services to research our options and compare bidding Pharmaceutical Benefits Managers (PBMs). Eckerd Pharmacy Management has been selected. The UFA invested $100,000 in this lengthy and involved process with an expected savings of $4.2 million over the next three years. Nine companies were involved the bidding. The Board chose the lowest bid. GPP, our previous company, placed seventh out of nine. The change-over is expected to take place by the end of the summer. The membership will be kept informed.
