Resignation of Fire Marshal Representative - Nomination Petitions for Vacant Office
The UFA Fire Marshal Representative Robert McDevitt delivered a letter to UFA President Steve Cassidy on November 23, 2010, stating his intention to resign as Fire Marshal Representative due to his retirement, effective the date the new Fire Marshal Representative is elected. The UFA thanks Rob for his dedicated service to all Fire Marshals and the UFA.Pursuant to Article VI of the UFA Constitution, any Fire Marshal in good standing wishing to run for the position must submit a petition containing the signatures of at least 15 Fire Marshals in good standing. The petition must state that it is for the position of Fire Marshal Representative and must contain the candidate's name. The petition MUST be submitted to UFA Recording Secretary Joe Miccio at the UFA office no later than 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010 so that the Election Committee can validate the petitions that morning. Candidate nominations for the new Fire Marshal Representative will take place on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 12 noon at the UFA. Once the nominations are made, and the candidate(s) accept their nominations, the election of the new Fire Marshal Representative will take place in accordance with the UFA Constitution. Ballots will be mailed on Thursday, December 30, 2010 and will be due on Friday, January 14, 2011 by 9 a.m. at the American Arbitration Association. Ballots will be counted that morning and the winner will take office immediately.
