Firefighter Thomas Brick College Scholarships
The FDNY is now accepting applications for this year's Firefighter Thomas Brick Scholarships, which are named to honor the fallen firefighter and are funded by the family of Salvatore Bommarito in appreciation for the courageous public service provided by New York City Firefighters.  Scholarships are available to all active FDNY Fire Officers and Firefighters.  Four scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded for the 2005-06 academic year.  To apply, complete the attached application and return to Chief of Operations, Salvatore J. The 6th Annual NY's Bravest Night of Comedy
Thursday, March 31st @ 8pm. Queensborough College Performing Arts Center, 222-05 56th Ave. Bayside NY 11364.  Box Office (718) 631-6390.  This show features funny NYC Firefighters along with professional comedians and will benefit the "Thomas Elsasser Scholarship Fund." This fund is for widows and children of deceased FDNY member's non line-of-duty.  Hosting this years show is retired New York City Firefighter turned comedian Billy "Bingo" Denis (ret) L126.  The show will feature Firefighters: Steve Alleva L7, Adam Lake L5, Jimmy Lawrence L126, , Kevin Seaman L4, and Ed Sullivan (ret) E211  "Rescue Me"  Headlining :  Rich Vos  Comedy Centrals Tough Crowd & HBO Paul Bond  Ron and Fez, Opie and Anthony.  All performers are donating their fees to the fund.  Tickets: $20 donation.  Box office (718) 631-6311.   Mon to Fri 10am - 4pm. FDNY Bravest Charity Boxing Show
Help Our Heroes.  Friday, April 1st at Christ the King High School, 68-02 Metropolitan Ave, Middle Village.  $20 donation.  Doors open at 7pm.  First bout 8pm sharp.  Half of all ticket sales will be donated to "Wounded Warrior Project" which supports our troops returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan with serious injuries.  Sponsored by Budweiser, sanctioned by USA Metro Boxing.  For ticket info call 917-282-8727.

FDNY Soccer Team Exhibition Game
The FDNY Soccer Team will be hosting the Somerset Fire Brigade in an exhibition game on Saturday, April 9th, 2005.  The game will be played at Hofstra University Soccer Stadium.  Game time is 5:00 pm.  The Somerset Fire Brigade Football Club are from Southwest, England and this is the second time that the teams will meet.  The FD hosted Somerset in 2003 and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Admission to the game is free.  Come out and support your team!!!   The FDNY game will be followed at 7:00pm by a match between Hoftsta University vs. the Long Island Rough Riders.  Great night for the Family. 81st Annual Communion Mass and Breakfast
The Fire Department Holy Name Society, Manhattan, Bronx, and Staten Island, will hold it's 81st Annual Communion Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, on Sunday April 10th, 2005 at 1015 hours.  Breakfast will follow at the New York Hilton Hotel, 53rd Street and 6th Avenue, at 1130 hours.  During the breakfast the Holy Name Society will honor Captain Stephen D'Amato, L-14 (ret.) and Battalion Chief James Slevin, B-20 (ret.).  We will also be celebrating Father Chris Keenan's 40th year of ordination.  The guest speaker will be Father Tom Hartman of the TV show "The God Squad".  Donations:  $35.00 per person.  For ticket reservations contact: Chris Ward (516) 992-2359, or send a check to the Holy Name Society, Attention: Chris Ward, 1811 Pettit Avenue, North Merrick, NY 11566.  Wives and children are cordially invited.  Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.  Members attending the Mass shall assemble on 51st Street, East of 5th Avenue at 0945 hours.

E-38 / L-51 Collecting Hoods for Iraq Troops
Send your extra hoods to our troops overseas. Engine 38 is collecting your used hoods, which protect the soldiers' necks during sandstorms and help shield their faces from shrapnel. Contact Gene Lynch at E38 718-430-0238.
