Sunday's N.Y Post full page article reported that an FDNY Member ticketed private vehicles of NYPD members outside of a precinct. The article stated "he allegedly launched a one-man ticket blitz on their personal cars parked at the Midtown North Precinct on West 54th Street". It implied that the tickets were deliberately targeted against our fellow rescue workers. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Here IS what occurred. FF Anzalone was on light duty summons assignment. Two tickets were issued to private vehicles. These vehicles were not parked on the block of the precinct and had no police ID Placards visible on the dashboard. After FF Anzalone was informed that the ticketed vehicles belonged to NYPD members, he went to the precinct and informed the Police Officers regarding the circumstances and let them know that the tickets were being voided and discarded.
The UFA is asking each Battalion Delegate to insure that a Delegate visit each precinct in their Battalion and explain the actual circumstances that the article is inaccurately portraying. As every firefighter knows, we work side-by-side on a regular basis with our brother and sister police officers risking our lives and protecting the public. We have the utmost respect for them and must insure that this inaccurate article does nothing to tarnish our positive relationship with our fellow public servants.
Fraternally.
