Hurricane Relief Efforts for Our Fellow Firefighters

The IAFF is collecting funds to assist the firefighters whose lives will foreverbe changed by the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. The UFAhas given $100,000 towards the IAFF Disaster Relief Fund in hopes to ease the financial burden faced by our fellow firefighters in the months and years to come as they try and rebuild their lives. UFA Members who wish to donate additional funds may do so by sending tax-deductible contributions to:

The IAFF Disaster Relief Fund provides assistance to IAFF members in the United States and Canada who suffer financial hardship as the result of a federally declared disaster area or in cases of natural or man-made disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires or civil disturbances.

New York City Firefighters are doing more than donating money to the cause. In addition to the allocation of funds, teams consisting of emergency responders, including our members, are currently en route to the disaster area to help with the recovery efforts.

After our losses on 9/11, IAFF jurisdictions across the country were quick to offer financial assistance and support to our members and families who were affected. As we look at the thousands of people whose lives will be forever changed because of this destructive force, it is important that we support our fellow firefighters and families in any way we can.

Fraternally.
