UFA Safety Message #05 - Chauffeur Responsibilities

UFA Health and Safety Officer/Sergeant-at-Arms Bill Romaka wishes to remind the membership to take their safety responsibilities seriously at all times. We will continue to highlight and remind our members of “safe actions” as spelled out by the Department.

The FDNY Regulations Chapter 13, “Apparatus and Equipment” states the following:

13.4 Duties and Responsibilities of Chauffeurs

13.4.1 Chauffeurs shall keep in mind their moral responsibility. The safety of members and civilians is dependent upon such members while apparatus is responding to, operating at, or returning from alarms. They shall maintain constant interest in assigned duties to avoid accidents and to obtain the maximum efficiency of apparatus in their charge.

***Please refer to FDNY Regulations Chapter 13 to familiarize yourself with its full content. Note that the Department will hold you to its higher standard. You must do what you believe is necessary to protect yourself, your family, our members and the civilians of this City. The message here is all about Safety!

Stay well and stay safe!
