Upcoming Events and Reminders

  1. City Health/Medical Plan Transfer Period 10/17 to 11/18
    Active members may transfer to another City Health/Medical Plan or Add/Drop an Optional Rider.The transfer period for active Firefighters is from October 17, 2004 thru November 18, 2004.  Late changes will not be accepted by the City!!! All active member changes will become effective the first day of the first full payroll period in January 2006. City Health/Medical Plan vendors will be present at the October 13th Union Meeting to answer your questions and distribute literature.

  2. Calendar Correction - Election Day
    Members are reminded that Election Day takes place on November 8th, not November 1st as stated on the UFA Calendar. Election Day always falls on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Members are urged to get out and vote!!

  3. Dedication of “Bell for the Unforgotten”
    Sun Oct 16th, 2 PM @ Ground Zero. Dedication of 2000 Lb. Memorial bell in memory of those whose remains have yet to be recovered & those whose remains are currently housed at the landfill on Staten Island. Hosted by WTC Families for a Proper Burial.

  4. NYC Fire Riders Memorial Motorcycle Run
    Sun, Oct 16th, 8-10 AM registration. Ride starts at 11AM. Cost is $20 per rider, $10 per passenger. Police escorted ride throughout Manhattan and Queens to honor FDNY members killed in LOD.  Registration and departure takes place at 58th Street and 55th Avenue, Maspeth, Queens. After ride, BBQ will take place featuring live music. 

  5. Capt. Timothy Stackpole Holy Name Society Mid-Week Retreat
    Beginning Tues Oct 18th @ 7AM – Ending Thurs Oct 20th, Noon, at Bishop Molloy Retreat House 86-45 Edgeton Blvd, Jamaica Estates. Members are welcome to stay a few hours or the entire time for a chance to reflect and gain spiritual renewal. For more info call Brendan Kearns (E164) 516-606-2219 or Glenn Barile L84 (ret) 718-967-1671 

  6. Ryan Family Fundraiser
    Bellmore PAL is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the children of FDNY Firefighter Tom Ryan on Oct. 29, 2005 at the Bellmore Firehouse.  Tom’s children Patty (21, kidney transplant) and Tom (17, brain tumor) both are in need of extensive medical treatment and as a result, will be incurring huge medical expenses.  Admission is $20 and all money raised will be turned over to the Ryan Family.   7. Steuben Association Oktoberfest Dance
    Sat Oct 29th at 1930 hours @ Palattduetsche Park Restaurant, 1132 Hempstead Tnpke, Franklin Square, NY.  Tix are $55 and can be obtained by calling FM Carl Haussler at 718-835-9050. All Dept members and their families are invited to attend.
