1. Blood Drive for Joe O'Grady
There will be a blood drive on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 9:00am - 2:30pm at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Father Albert Hall, 2969 Otis Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465 for Joe O'Grady, the son-in-law of retired FDNY Captain Dan Massa. 2. FDNY St. George Association Annual Scholarship Exam
REMINDER: On Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 10am, at American Legion Post 301, 80-45 Winchester Blvd., Queens, NY the FDNY St. George Association Annual Scholarship Exam will take place. Scholarships will be awarded in four categories: Ages 12 & 13; Ages 14 & 15; Ages 16 & 17; and Ages 18 & 19. Open to the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of FDNY St. George Association members. For further info, contact Scholarship Chairman Harvey Modor at 718-465-6405.


3. Columbia Association 2010 Scholarship Competition
Applications for eligible family members of the Columbia Association are being accepted for H.S. & College Awards as follows: Candidates for College Awards (12th Grade Students) must submit applications, along with a copy of the Candidate's SAT scores, before April 1, 2010. Candidates for High School (8th Grade Students) must submit applications before March 1, 2010. Eligibility: Candidates for these awards may compete if a parent (natural, step or foster) is a member in good standing of the Columbia Association. Children of deceased members, who were in good standing at time of death, may also compete. Applications may be obtained online at www.fdnycolumbia.com or from your Columbia Association borough trustee or by contacting the Columbia Association's scholarship chairman, Cptn. Craig M. 4. John Jay College Tuition Reimbursement
As per Dept Order #102 the Department is offering a tuition reimbursement plan for all uniformed members who are registered for courses at John Jay College. Any FDNY member currently enrolled in the Fall 2009 semester at John Jay College should have completed the Notification of Registration form JJ-1 (available on the FDNY Intranet) to be eligible for consideration of tuition reimbursement. Members who filed form JJ-1 are required to submit the request for reimbursement form JJ-2 at the conclusion of the Fall 2009 semester. The form and a copy of their transcript and proof of payment shall be forwarded to the FDNY College Advisor. The required documentation must be received by January 15th, 2010. No reimbursement requests will be accepted after this date.
