1. FF Michael Elferis (E-22) 5K Memorial Run
REMINDER: On Saturday, October 3rd, 10am, at McNeil Park located on 119th St. & Poppenhusen Ave. in Queens. Race day registration: $20, includes food, beverages, raffles, and more. 2. FF Tommy McGarry (L-44) Miles for Mary Benefit
On Tuesday, October 6th from 7-9pm at Turtle Bay, 987 2nd Ave in Manhattan. Tommy is raising money for colon cancer research in memory of his mother Mary McGarry who lost her battle with cancer. Tickets: $30 at the door, includes open bar. $10 raffle tickets for cash prize and more. All proceeds go to Fred’s Team, a group of runners of which Tommy is a part, dedicated to raising funds for cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. 3. 6th Annual Blue Mass
On Sunday, October 11th, 1:30pm, at St. Peters Church in Manhattan (c/o of Barclay & Church St.). Come to honor all those who have given their lives in the line of duty and to all that continue to do the job day in and day out. Off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. 4. Columbus Day Parade
Monday, October 12th, the FDNY Columbia Association participates in the annual celebration of Christopher Columbus. Off-duty members and their families are invited to march. The assembly point is W. 44th St & 5th Ave by 11am, parade starts at 12pm. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform. 5. Captain Vinny Giammona Memorial (5K) Fun Run
On Sunday, October 18th, at St. Francis Prep, 6100 Francis Lewis Boulevard Fresh Meadows, NY 11365. At 9:15am there will be a 50 yard pee-wee race. 5K Race begins at 9:30am. Advance Registration: $15 per runner (guaranteed T-shirt), Day of Race Registration: $20 per runner. Children under 10 years of age are free.
