A Journey For 9/11 presents: 1st Annual Walk to Commemorate George Martin's Historic Walk Across America Supporting The Heroes of Ground Zero

On Sunday, September 13th at 10am join George Martin and other NFL alumni, including Joe Morris, and walk to Giants Stadium to support the heroes of Ground Zero. Proceeds benefit medical care for first responders at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Hackensack University Medical Center and North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital. These institutions have agreed to provide a dollar-for-dollar match for all contributions.

George Martin, a retired co-captain of the Super Bowl XXI Champion New York Giants, formed A Journey for 9/11 in 2007. He walked across America to raise awareness and funds. To date, A Journey for 9/11 has raised more than $3 million but wants to do more. Help raise funds to care for first responders by registering and/or donating online at www.ajourneyfor911.info or call (877) 513-2999.

All participants will finish the Walk at Giants Stadium but there are 3 different starting points (FREE parking), directions to which are provided on the aforementioned website. The first and longest (13 miles) begins at 10am from Hudson Terrance, Fort Lee NJ under the George Washington Bridge. Participants should arrive by 9am. The second route (6 miles) begins at 12:25pm from Hackensack Medical Center at the Atlantic Street entrance. Participants should arrive no later than 11:30am. The final route (2 miles) starts at 2pm from Henry P. Becton H.S. in East Rutherford, NJ. Participants should be there by 1pm. The walk is expected to end at approximately 2:35pm.

You may register online or on-site but all payments ($35 per person) must be made on-site. Fees include a limited edition event T-shirt, snack, and return transportation to starting points. FDNY members who pre-register online are invited to attend the tail-gate party with George Martin, Harry Carson, and other NFL alumni at the new Giants Timex Performance Center. Additionally, there are still some openings to walk the length of the field with George Martin and other Giants players prior to the Giants 1st home game against the Washington Redskins at 4:15pm.
