Applicants must be current full-time college students (minimum of 12 credits) in an accredited college and children of an active FDNY Firefighter or Officer. Previous winners ineligible. Award $1,000.00. Children must be enrolled full time in an accredited college (future college students not eligible). Send name of college, child's name, age, grade level, academic major or area of interest. Provide a separate form for each applicant. In addition, the firefighters should identify themselves including current work assignment, number of years on the job and both home and work address with telephone, e-mail and fax if available. Winners required to provide an official document verifying full-time enrollment. Not necessary for the letter of nomination. - Emerald Society, FDNY, Annual Scholarship Examination
Saturday, March 3, 2007, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart School, 457 West 51st Street, Manhattan. Children graduating from 8th Grade or Junior High School in 2007 are eligible if a parent or sibling is a member of the Emerald Society. Emerald Society members must be current dues paying members for at least 3 years prior to the exam. Applications may be obtained from Borough Officers and Company Delegates of the Emerald Society. A new USCF racing team is being started to compete locally and nationally. Organizing weekly rides in uptown Manhattan and Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The Lt. John Clancy / FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund will award ten individual $1000.00 scholarships to college bound children of active Firefighters and Fire Officers. The awards will be randomly selected at the 11th Annual Lt. John Clancy / FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Golf Outing. Students must provide the following info by April 30, 2007: Name of Student and FDNY parent; Anticipated date of graduation and current level; Members work unit, home address and phone number; Students proof of full-time enrollment in an accredited College or University (Minimum 12 credits per semester).
