1. 8th Annual Capt. Vinnie Brunton Pitch & Putt Golf and BBQ
On Friday, August 14th at 8am there will be a shogun start for golf in Riis Park, Rockaway. The bbq will begin at 12 noon at Fort Tilden, Breezy Point. Free bus shuttle service leaves Farrells Bar & Grill, located at 215 Prospect Park West in Brooklyn at 11:30am. Golf ID: $90. BBQ: $40 includes a T-shirt, drinks, food, and more. 2. FDNY Steuben Association Boat Ride 2009
On Wednesday, August 19th, the annual Steuben Association Boat Ride for Firefighters, Nurses and friends will leave Pier 83 at West 42nd Street, Manhattan, aboard Circle Line Tours. Boarding begins at 7:30 pm; the cruise is from 8-11pm. Tickets: $40 in advance, $50 at the door if available, which includes the cost of the DJ, dancing, and an open bar (food service is available). 3. Care Packages for NYC Troops
REMINDER: As per Dept Order #58 all Firehouses will be collection points for non-perishable goods to be distributed to thousands of local soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. This campaign will run until August 21, 2009. For more info call 311 or visit www.nyc.gov.
4. John Jay College Tuition Reimbursement Fall 2009
As per Dept Order #61 the Department is offering a tuition reimbursement plan for all uniformed members who are registered for courses at John Jay College. To be eligible for reimbursement members must: 1. download form John Jay-Notification of Registration for Fall 2009 Semester (JJ-1) from the Intranet forms section. 2. complete form JJ-1 and mail or fax the form to the FDNY College Advisor by September 25th, 2009. 3. receive a grade of C or better in their selected course(s) and forward a copy of their transcript and proof of tuition payment to the FDNY College Advisor by January 15th, 2010. Any member who has received tuition funds from any other FDNY Scholarship Program is ineligible for any John Jay College tuition reimbursement for the Fall 2009 semester.
