Man Dies After Fire

A 61-year-old man died yesterday after firefighters pulled him from his burning apartment in the East Village, fire officials said. The man, who was not identified by the Fire Department, was burned in a cooking accident, fire officials said. Firefighters received a report of the fire, in a fourth-floor apartment at 207 East 15th Street, at 5:53 a.m. yesterday, the department said. Damage by the fire, which was under control at 6:40 a.m., was limited to the apartment, the department said. The man was taken in critical condition to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he later died.
