Blaze & Slay in Brooklyn

NY Post

by JOHN DOYLE and JAMIE SCHRAM

The body of a strangled woman was discovered yesterday after a fire broke out in her Brooklyn home.

Marie Bontemps, 47, was found by firefighters responding to the small blaze in the East Flatbush building.

It was unclear if the killer started the fire to hide the murder.

After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters made the gruesome discovery in the back of the Troy Avenue basement apartment.

While firefighters were trying unsuccessfully to revive the woman, a man approached them and screamed, "Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" then disappeared, witnesses said.

Neighbors said they had seen the man before, and cops would not say if they had any suspects.
