Nightmare in B'klyn

NY Daily News

A 60-year-old Bronx man died after his careless smoking sparked a late-night blaze, authorities said.

Julius Martin either fell asleep while smoking or carelessly discarded a cigarette, officials said. His badly burned body was found late Friday at his Elder Ave. apartment in Soundview.

Fire officials said Martin was alone in his home when the fire broke out.

A neighbor called 911 after smoke seeped into the hallway.
