Fire injures 4 Bravest

NY Daily News

Four firefighters were injured yesterday while battling a suspicious house fire in Queens, authorities said.

Three of the injured men were treated at area hospitals for injuries that included heat exhaustion, shortness of breath and an injured knee, officials said.

The homeowners left the house on 209th St. in Queens Village just an hour before the fire started about 3:15 p.m., near a front staircase, said fire officers and family at the scene.

The two-alarm blaze was labeled suspicious because of the heavy smoke firefighters encountered upon responding to the two-story home, said Deputy Assistant Chief John Acerno.
