1. FF Michael Elferis (E-22) 5K Memorial Run
REMINDER: On Saturday, June 7th, 10am, at McNeil Park located on 119th St. & Poppenhusen Ave. in Queens. Pre-registration: $15, Race day: $20, includes food, beverages, raffles, and more. 2. Nursing Workshop
REMINDER: On Thursday, June 12th, 10am-12:30pm the FDNY and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) will be co-hosting a Nursing Career Workshop at Fort Totten, Building 405. Mari Moriarty, M.A., RN from the VNSNY will lead the Workshop. This Workshop will help FDNY members explore Nursing as a possible second career, and discover what is necessary to become a Registered Nurse. 3. Fire Bell Club Scholarship Award Application
REMINDER: Active Firefighters 5th Grade and above, and Fire Officers who have been accepted or are attending an accredited institution of higher learning are eligible. FF's/Fire Officers who are pursuing a degree in Fire Service Administration, Public Service Management, Nursing or a related Fire Service discipline and who have completed a minimum of twelve credits are also eligible. Preference will be given to members who have fewer than (5) years of service. A written statement of 500 words explaining why an applicant should be considered for the award must be submitted. 4. 8th Annual FDNY Night at Keyspan Park
On Friday, July 25th at 7pm, the Brooklyn Cyclones will play the Staten Island Yankees at 1904 Surf Ave. B'klyn. Tickets: $15 each for grandstand, $10 each for bleacher seats. There will be pre-game activities beginning at 6pm. Proceeds go to the UFA Scholarship Fund. For more info call Fire Marshal Bob Cashman, 718-999-0740.
5. FDNY Tennis Team
On August 16th, 11am, at Crotona Park in the Bronx the FDNY will be competing against the NYPD. The FDNY needs 10-12 players. If you are interested in playing for the FDNY in this tennis tournament contact Chief Stanton at Division 6, 718-430-0206, 845-628-5437 or e-mail studycards@hotmail.com.
