Stop-Work Order On Former Deutsche Bank Building Is Lifted

NY 1

The city has lifted a stop-work order on the former Deutsche Bank Building.

The order was issued after a deadly blaze claimed the lives of two firefighters last August.

The Department of Buildings decided to lift it after contractors completed a new fire control system.

Workers have been clearing debris from the building, which was damaged after the collapse of the Twin Towers.

The building's owner, The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, says 300 asbestos removal workers will begin six-day-a-week shifts to clear toxic materials from 19 floors before demolition work continues.
