Associated Press

New YORK -- NEW YORK (AP) -- More than 100 firefighters have wrestled with a blaze that coursed through a Brooklyn apartment building early this morning. The Fire Department says three civilians and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

The three-alarm blaze was reported around 12:30 a.m. in a building on Jefferson Avenue, near the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Firefighters say flames spread through parts of all the building's four floors, seriously damaging at least the fourth floor.

The fire was under control by 2:30 a.m., with the help of 140 firefighters.

The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital, but the three civilians declined medical attention.
