A 14-year-old boy was plucked out of frigid Bronx waters in a daring rescue by firefighters last night, authorities said.

The boy was walking along a 150- to 200-foot-long jetty of jagged rocks in Orchard Beach at about 6 p.m. when he fell in, officials said.

It was unclear what caused the boy to fall. Some of the rescuers thought he may have had a medical condition because he was unresponsive when they first arrived.

"Today is a very good day," said FDNY Lt. Mike Bonner, who pulled the boy from the rocks. "I feel great, it's what we're here for."

The teen, whose name was not released, was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was in stable condition, fire officials said.
