1. FDNY Columbia Association 2008 Scholarship Competition
Applications for eligible family members of the Columbia Association are being accepted for H.S. & College Awards as follows: Candidates for College Awards (12th Grade Students) must submit applications, along with a copy of the Candidate's SAT scores, before April 1, 2008. Candidates for High School (8th Grade Students) must submit applications before March 1, 2008. Eligibility: Candidates for these awards may compete if a parent (natural, step or foster) is a member in good standing of the Columbia Association. Children of deceased members, who were in good standing at time of death, may also compete. Applications may be obtained online at www.fdnycolumbia.com or by contacting Craig Silvino, 347-556-9906.

2. FDNY Emerald Society Annual Scholarship Exam
On Saturday, March 1, 8:30 am-11:30am at Sacred Heart School, 457 W 51st St. Children graduating from 8th Grade or J.H.S. in 2008 are eligible if a parent or sibling is a member of the Emerald Society in good standing. Applications may be obtained from Emerald Society Delegates. Applications should be mailed to the Scholarship Chairman, William P. Treanor, 98 Bay Street, Bronx, NY 10464, 718-885-0648.


3. FDNY Boxing Tournament
On Saturday, March 8th at 8pm, the FDNY Boxing Team vs. Suffolk County Law Enforcement Boxing Tournament will be held at the Suffolk Community College Brentwood Campus, 1001 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, L.I. For tickets ($20) call 631-567-3538 or go online: www.HeavyHittersBoxing.com. Proceeds go to the Wounded Warriors Project. or 732-890-8666.


4. FF Sam Oitice (L-4) Memorial Benefit Concert
On Friday March 14th, 7:30pm, Paramount Center for the Arts 1008 Brown St. Peekskill, NY. Tickets: $48-$68. FF Sam Oitice made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11. Proceeds go to the Sam Oitice Heroes Remembered Memorial. World renowned Irish Tenor, Ronan Tynan, will perform a special benefit concert for the Peekskill Volunteer Fire Depertment's Sam Oitice Heroes Remembered Memorial Committee.
