Left Homeless

NY Post

by BRIAN HAMACHER

A single mom and her five children were left without a home two days before Christmas after a smoky fire destroyed their apartment in a Lower East Side housing project.

The one-alarm blaze broke out at 12:30 a.m. yesterday in the apartment, on the top floor of a 17-story building at 10 Catherine Slip.

Sixty firefighters battled for a half an hour to control the blaze. The cause was not immediately known.
