An 80-year-old woman was found dead in her Brooklyn apartment by rescuers who rushed into the home to extinguish a small fire, authorities said Saturday.

Workers at Gina Deutsch's building on Pennsylvania Ave. in New Lots quickly doused the flames in her home on Friday afternoon.

But the elderly woman was already unconscious in her kitchen.

She died at the scene, authorities said.

The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

FDNY officials said the fire in the 15th-floor apartment was likely ignited by a candle.
