Families Of Firefighters Killed In Deutsche Bank Blaze Plan To Sue City

NY 1

The families of the two firefighters killed during the fire that ripped through the former Deutsche Bank building this past summer intend to sue the city.

Lawyers for the wife of Joseph Graffagnino filed a notice of claim against the city Tuesday. The filing comes one day after the sister of Robert Beddia filed her own claim.

They plan to sue various city and state agencies for what they call "reckless, willful, and wanton actions and inactions" which led to the fire that claimed the lives of their loved ones. A broken standpipe made the fire difficult to fight.

The FDNY has been criticized for not inspecting the pipe before the August 18th blaze.
