Brooklyn Firehouse Celebrates 100th Anniversary

NY 1

Some of New York's Bravest marked a special anniversary Wednesday.

Engine Company 234, Ladder Company 123, along with Battalion 38 in Weeksville, Brooklyn celebrated the 100th anniversary of their firehouse.

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta was on hand for a special ceremony honoring not only the brave firefighters who've given their lives protecting New York, but also those who continue to serve their community today.

"You are on the very, very short list of the best in the city," said Scoppetta. "For years and years your reputation has been that anybody that wasn't coming to a busy place would love to come here at 234 and 123."

The firehouse is considered to be one of the busiest in the city.
