Brooklyn Firefighter Jeffrey Scotto brought the heat Monday night at the sixth annual Iron Skillet Cook Off, in which one of the Bravest from each borough takes on a professional chef.
Scotto's breadcrumb and garlic-stuffed braciole - "an old family recipe," he says - was named best dish by celebrity judges like Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen, beating out the same dish done by Eric Hara of David Burke & Donatella on the upper East Side.
A crowd of about 500 - including "The Sopranos" star Michael Imperioli and dozens of firefighters - turned out for the fund-raiser for the World Cares Center, a nonprofit that helps with disaster recovery.
If the night was sweet for the 22-year-old Scotto, who is stationed at Engine Co. 246 and marks his first year as a firefighter Friday, it was also a win for the FDNY. Last year, the department was left out in the cold when the skillet went to a professional chef.
