One person was killed and two others were injured last night in an apartment building fire in East New York, Brooklyn, fire department officials said.

The fire was reported on the fifth floor of the eight-story building on Euclid Avenue about 10:30 p.m. and was fought by 60 firefighters from 12 fire department units, officials said.

The fire was limited to that one floor and brought under control within 20 minutes, officials said, but one resident was reported dead at the scene and two others were transported to area hospitals for treatment. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
