A woman was found dead and two men were seriously injured last night in a suspicious fire at a New York City Housing Authority project in the East New York area, the police and fire officials said.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of an eight-story brick apartment building at 730 Euclid Avenue near Dumont Avenue in the Cypress Hills complex. The fire was reported at 10:28 p.m. and was brought under control by 10:44, the Fire Department said.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released. Some neighbors said they believed that the fire was set intentionally because of a personal dispute, but fire officials said that the cause remained under investigation.
