Two NYC Firefighters Among Those Honored In Albany Ceremony

NY 1

Firefighters who died in the line of duty, including two New York City firefighters, were honored at the State Capitol Tuesday.

Twelve firefighters' names were added to the state memorial in Albany, including 10 who died in the last two years.

Governor Eliot Spitzer says their sacrifices will not be forgotten.

"Modern firefighting demands a higher standard of bravery and courage than ever before," he said. "That is why, as our firefighters protect the publics the State of New York must do everything it can to protect our firefighters. "

Two firefighters from the city were among those added to the list.

Lieutenant Howard J. Carpluk and Michael C. Reilly were both killed while battling a Bronx store fire in August of 2006.
