NEW YORK WCBS-TV is the proud sponsor of the sixth annual Stephen Siller "Tunnel to Towers" Run on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007.
CBS 2 Anchors Chris Wragge and Kristine Johnson host this hour-long special and report live from Sunday morning's event from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Tunnel to Towers Run was founded by the Siller family in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller.
On September 11, 2001 Siller was off-duty but raced through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel with his gear strapped to his back to get to the World Trade Center site and help his fellow firefighters. He perished that day but in honor of his courage and bravery, each year the "Tunnel to Towers Run" recreates his run through the Tunnel to the World Trade Center site. Hundreds of fireman put their gear on and run through the Tunnel, which is lined with family members and loved ones holding poster-sized photographs of those lost.
Money is raised to benefit the Siller Family Foundation and is used to assist a number of charities, including the families and children of those lost in 9/11.
The "Tunnel to Towers" Run is produced in conjunction with the Stephen Siller "Let Us Do Good" Children's Foundation, the NYC Department of Transportation, FDNY
