NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A fire on a 38-foot pleasure boat in the Hudson River forced the rescue of nine people.

The fire department says the fire started in a cushion. It's not known what sparked the fire.

The fire happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday after the boat left from Weekhawken, NJ. The FDNY, NYPD and Coast Guard all responded to the emergency. Everyone was pulled from the boat safely.

All were taken to the Christopher Street Pier and rescue crews towed the boat to an adjacent pier.
