(1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) Firefighters evacuated a building in Greenwich Village Sunday night after the exterior of one of its rear walls collapsed into an alley.

No one was hurt. About 25 people were evacuated from the residence and a nearby building as a precaution, according to Firefighter Sean Johnson, a fire department spokesman.

The mishap took place just before 7 p.m. at a five-story building on LaGuardia Place.

Department of Buildings spokeswoman Ilyse Fink said the structure was in no danger of collapsing. She said a few displaced residents would not be able to return to their homes until the remainder of the damaged curtain wall was removed.
