Melrose Fire Under Investigation

NY 1

by strong winds, fully engulfed a row of houses in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Fire officials say it appears the fire on Concord Avenue started on the first floor of a three-story building, and then spread to two adjacent buildings. More than a dozen firefighters and three civilians suffered minor injuries.

Some of those who lost their homes complained that the Fire Department didn't arrive soon enough.

Fire officials say there was no delay in their response time.
