More than twenty people were sent to the hospital with minor burns after a fire tore through a row of buildings in the Bronx Sunday morning.

It happened at 509 Concord Avenue in Melrose. Fire officials say it appears the blaze started on the first-floor of a three-story building and then spread to two adjacent buildings.

Authorities say 19 firefighters and three civilians suffered minor injuries including burns.

Some of the people that lost their homes say the Fire Department should have moved faster to fight the flames.

"Homeowners here, we feel that the fire department was too slow in their response time. While the trucks were here on time - they were here within four minutes - getting the water up to the homes was not quick enough," said a resident.

"We lost everything. We just have the clothes on our backs," added another. "This house has been in the family for sixty years, this has never happened."

Fire officials tell NY1 there was no delay in their response or water deployment.
