A square in the Bronx was renamed Saturday for a firefighter who died in the World Trade Center attack. Williamsburg Square in Olinville now bears the name of Michael Lynch. Engine 62, Ladder 32, the firehouse where Lynch served, is on the square, on White Plains Road. Lynch's father says fellow firefighters will remember the way Michael lived, not just how he died. “I think they will remember him as a very generous person who loved life and loved people,” said his father, Jack. “He was always a very happy person who made people around him happy. Michael was a people person, and I think that’s how they'll remember him.” Lynch was on rotation on the Upper West Side when he rushed to the twin towers after they were attacked.
