Fire officials are also still trying to figure out what caused a fire in Brooklyn that injured an elderly man.

The fire gutted a two story home in Prospect Lefferts Garden.

Firefighters managed to pull an 82-year-old man from the burning home after his grandchildren managed to escape and told rescuers where the man was.

"He was burnt; his face was burnt, but he was breathing," said Chris Gaby of the FDNY. "Just got him out quick. As soon as you give a 1045, anyone else who is helping out, the rest of the companies got their hands on and helped carry him out the window and got him out to the street safe."

The elderly man was taken to the hospital and is being treated for extensive burns.
