NY 1

A vacationing couple was badly burned after a fire tore through the Brooklyn home where they were staying Sunday.

The husband and wife, who are both in their early fifties, according to relatives, are visiting from Haiti.

Firefighters found them lying unconscious on the first floor of 1348 East 83rd street at around 7 a.m. Rescuers resuscitated the couple.

They were hospitalized with second-degree burns and smoke inhalation. Doctors expect them to survive, fire officials say.
