A fast-moving fire roared through a row of Bronx stores early yesterday, injuring six firefighters and two children, officials said.

"I thought everything we had was going to burn up," said Stephanie Aobarracin, 18, as she huddled in Red Cross blankets with her neighbors in University Heights. "But the firefighters fought so hard they stopped the fire." Aobarracin was evacuated from a nearby apartment building that filled with smoke, and watched as the flames moved closer to her home.

It took more than 100 firefighters, working for almost three hours, to douse the Featherbed Lane blaze.

The fire started just before 5:30 a.m. in a deli and swept through a neighboring liquor store and Chinese takeout restaurant, gutting all three businesses, authorities said.

One firefighter was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center with heart problems. Five others suffered minor injuries battling the blaze. Two children from the evacuated building were treated for smoke inhalation.
