Bronx fire kills girl, injures two others

Newsday

NEW YORK (AP) An early-morning fire at a Bronx apartment building Friday killed a girl and injured three others, a fire official said.

Firefighters were called to the six-story building at 2076 Bronx Park East at 3:14 a.m., firefighter Ryan Daley said. The fire on the building's first floor was under control by 3:50 a.m, he said.

A 5-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival and three others were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, two with serious injuries and one with minor injuries, fire officials said.

Fire officials didn't immediately release the victims' names.

The cause of the fire, which investigators didn't deem suspicious, is under investigation.
