NEW YORK (AP) A teenager ran repeatedly into her burning home to rescue five younger cousins from the swiftly spreading blaze, her family said. Yaneisha Harrison, 18, brought her cousins to the backyard one by one, passing them over a fence to a neighbor. "I had to go back four times and there was more smoke and fire each time," the teenager told the Daily News after the Monday morning fire in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. "It was running on the roof and the wall." "I was scared, I was nervous," the high school senior said. "All I could think about was how I could get them out of the house." With their cousin leading them, Keyanne, 11; Keyron, 7; Kevon, 5; Kaydiann, 4; and 11-month-old Jaden emerged from the home unscathed. Their father also escaped, although the flames cut him off from the children. The fire in the family's town house was extinguished within an hour by firefighters. Two of the building's three stories were gutted. The Fire Department said Tuesday that the cause of the fire was under investigation. Kevon said his cousin, an aspiring nurse, lived up to her nickname. "We call her 'Toughie'," the 5-year-old said. "She's pretty tough for a girl."
