Two children were killed and a third critically injured early Saturday morning after a fire swept through a Staten Island house.

Authorities said the blaze left a 5-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy dead. A 3-year-old boy was in critical condition.

Three firefighters and two other people were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities did not disclose their identities.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived on the scene about 2:20 a.m.

It took 110 firefighters more than an hour to control the blaze that quickly consumed the house, authorities said.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.

On Wednesday, an 8-year-old boy ignited a fire at his Queens home that killed three of his younger siblings and an elderly man.
