E. Side Townhouse fire

NY Daily News

A raging fire ripped through a historic upper East Side townhouse early yesterday, and Fire Department investigators believe the three-alarm blaze was set intentionally.

The four-story building at 115 E. 70th St., which is currently vacant while it undergoes extensive renovations, ignited just after 2:30 a.m. and roared with such intensity that firefighters were forced to battle the blaze from the street, officials said.

The 17,000-square-foot property, which neighbors said is owned by Reed Krakoff, the president of Coach, was being converted into an opulent single-residence mansion.
