Two construction workers were in critical condition last night after being buried by a massive wall collapse at a Brooklyn job site, authorities and witnesses said.

One of the workers was pinned down in a trench for more than half an hour after two partitions caved in on top of him on E. 22nd St. in Midwood just before 2:30 p.m.

"The guy was completely buried. You couldn't see him," said Dave O'Regan, 40, who was operating a backhoe in the small lot, where a condominium is being constructed.

He said four workers were cleaning an area some 10 feet beneath a garage when bricks and concrete from a supporting wall suddenly came crashing down.

"I screamed to the guys 'Run!' but unfortunately two slipped in the sand," O'Regan recalled.

He jumped off the machine and used a shovel and his hands to dig out one of the men.

The second man was finally rescued by firefighters after a tense half-hour.

The two workers, who were not identified, were listed in critical condition at area hospitals.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The listed contractor of the site, Russo Construction, could not be reached yesterday.
