Mighty Quinn

NY Daily News

Mighty talked with Pudgie Walsh, head coach of the Brooklyn Mariners, Monday night. "If you're not busy Saturday afternoon, Mighty, we're holding the Second Annual Danny Suhr Scholarship Bowl."

Editor's note: Danny Suhr lost his life on 9/11 and is considered the first FDNY member to die that day.

"I'm sure you know this, Pudgie, but Danny Suhr was a Daily News all-city lineman at South Shore H.S. in Brooklyn."

"And Danny also played with me for the Brooklyn Mariners and the FDNY football team," replied Pudgie.

"So who gets the scholarship, Pudgie?"

"We have a committee to decide that," Pudgie told Mighty. "Last year Steven Orr won a grant to Xaverian H.S. in Brooklyn. So, stop by Saturday (2 p.m.) at Kingsbay Field (Knapp St. and Ave. X). The Brooklyn Mariners are playing the New Jersey Cynder."

Mighty missed with the Mets last night. Today it's the Indians.

The profit is 630 sirignanos.
