A raging fire ripped through a Bronx roominghouse yesterday, leaving about 80 people homeless and three firefighters injured, officials said.

The blaze broke out about 11:30 a.m. in the basement of 3345-47 Third Ave. in Morrisania and quickly spread to the top of the two-story wood-frame building, officials said.

The heavy smoke and flames sent tenants running for their lives, while others banged on their neighbors' doors.

"I heard someone yell, 'Fire!' I saw smoke coming out of the windows," said tenant Chris Adams, 26. "I grabbed my girl, my son, and I got out."

Nearly 140 firefighters battled the blaze, which was under control by 12:18 p.m., officials said. Three firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The damaged 18-unit building was left uninhabitable, and the American Red Cross was helping tenants find shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

"I'm just glad we're all alive," said tenant Sherry Kone, 44. "I lost everything."
