NY Post

by Patrick Gallahue

A firefighter critically injured earlier this month when he tumbled off his rig racing to a Manhattan blaze is scheduled to leave the hospital today.

Firefighter Joseph Moore, 26, has been recuperating at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center since the Dec. 2 accident.

The three-year veteran firefighter, assigned to Ladder Co. 13 on the Upper East Side, suffered a fractured skull.

Moore's company was racing to a fire on York Avenue when he fell from the 17-year-old Mack Tower Ladder rig on Lexington Avenue between 84th and 85th streets, his head smashing against the pavement.
