NY Post

ARLINGTON, Va. — Chris Engeldrum manned his final post at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday, joining 104 other American heroes here who gave their lives for their country fighting in Iraq.

Engeldrum, who lived a trinity of heroism as a soldier, fireman and cop, was laid to rest with full military honors in the nation's most sacred soil beneath a gray, weeping sky.

He was honored with bagpipes, a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps in the private farewell.

He leaves a pregnant wife, Sharon, and sons, Sean, 18, and Royce, 16.

Engeldrum, an Army National Guard sergeant, Gulf War vet and ex-city cop, was killed Nov. 29 when a bomb exploded under his Humvee near Baghdad. He was a five-year FDNY veteran who was with Ladder Co. 61 in the Co-op City section of The Bronx.
