BRAVO, BRAVEST!

A Lower East Side mother yesterday said she and her children were "goners" — until brave firefighters saved them from an arson fire at their South Street apartment.
Delores Cuebas, 37, her 1-year-old son Frederick and daughter Sheena, 18, were rescued from the flames as lethal black smoke began to choke them Monday night.

"I thought we were goners, I thought we were all going to die. As I called 911, the line went dead because of the fire. I ran to the windows screaming for help. I held my baby boy up through the bars so he could breathe. I know it's a miracle we all survived."

Investigators said the front door of the fifth-floor apartment was doused with accelerant before it was torched. It was unclear why the family was targeted.

Investigators were reviewing security tapes to see if they could identify the arsonist.

Cuebas — who also has a 15-year-old son, Danny, who was not in the building at the time — lost almost all her belongings in the fire that destroyed their home Monday night.

"I just hope whoever did this gets caught," she said.
